Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 10, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how WordFever ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
When you use WordFever, we may collect the following information:
- Name and email address — collected via Google Sign-In when you choose to sign in. Used to display your name on the leaderboard and associate scores with your account.
- Game scores and performance data — chain length, score, language played, and time played. Stored to power the global leaderboard.
- Anonymous device ID — a randomly generated ID used for daily goal tracking. This does not identify you personally and is never linked to your name or email.
How We Use Your Information
- To display your username and scores on the global leaderboard
- To track daily goals and streak progress (stored locally on your device)
- To send optional streak reminder notifications (only if you grant permission)
- To improve the app and fix bugs
Third-Party Services
WordFever uses the following third-party services that may collect data independently:
- Google Sign-In — for optional authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob — to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve ads. We request non-personalized ads only. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage
Your name, email, and game scores are stored in our secure database hosted on Neon (serverless PostgreSQL). Daily goal progress, streak data, and reward tokens are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
Data Retention
We retain your score and profile data for as long as the App is in use. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
WordFever is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Play without signing in — scores will not appear on the leaderboard but no personal data is collected
- Disable notifications at any time via your device settings
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
